Mineral Composition of The Lunar Surface (E)

An instrument developed by ISRO’s Space Applications Centre has detected the unambiguous presence of (OH and H2O) Hydroxyl and Water molecules on the Moon with the precision of differentiating between the two. This indigenous instrument mounted on the orbiter of Chandrayaan-2, is called Imaging Infrared Spectrometer or IIRS. It is collecting information from the electromagnetic spectrum to understand the mineral composition of the lunar surface.
