Gamma-Ray Burst (E)

A team of astronomers have identified the shortest Gamma-Ray Burst or GRB caused by the death of a massive star. What makes this discovery all the more special for us is that many Indian astronomers have also contributed to it. This detection has shown for the first time that short GRBs could also emerge from collapsing stars. The new finding will expand our understanding about GRBs, as well as events like supernova explosions.
