De-Husking And Oil Extraction Machine (E)
To improve non-fossil fuel production in the country, a motorized de-husking and oil extraction machine has been developed for easy storage and processing of Pongamia. This project of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, has been provided financial assistance under the Scheme for Young Scientists and Technologists (SYST) program of the SEED Division of the Department of Science and Technology. Pongamia seeds are considered to be suitable oilseeds for producing biodiesel, but farmers are not attracted to them due to the difficulties of processing.
