Water Purification Technology by IISER Kolkata (E)

Our water resources are getting contaminated by different kinds of pollutants. Among these pollutants ‘Persistent Organic Pollutants’ or POPs have been found to be exceptionally challenging. These organic molecules or compounds remain intact for exceptionally long periods of time and are toxic to all living beings. Bisphenol A or BPA is also one of these. Though the presence of BPA in water resources has been found to be in nanograms still it can be detrimental to our health as many studies have linked it to different kinds of ailment. Now researchers at the IISER Kolkata have found a way to remove this pollutant from the water.
